Main Event Set; 2 Fighters Heavy

Headlining the
UFC Vegas 101 main event is a five-round strawweight fight
between Mackenzie
Dern and Amanda
Ribas. Both women successfully made weight, although two
fighters on the undercard did not. First was Jose
Johnson, who came in 2.5 pounds over the flyweight limit for
his fight against Felipe
Bunes. Also overweight was Ihor
Potieria, who came in 2 pounds over the limit for his
middleweight bout versus Marco
Tulio. Both fighters will be fined a percentage of their purse
as a result.

A fan-favorite inside the Octagon, Dern (14-5) comes into the fight
off a win over Lupita
Godinez. This snapped a two-fight losing streak after the
American lost to Amanda
Lemos and Jessica
Andrade. The decorated grappler holds key wins over Angela
Hill, Tecia
Pennington and Nina Nunes.
The 31-year-old stepped on the scale weighing exactly 116
pounds.

Meanwhile, Ribas (13-5) is looking to bounce back from a defeat to
Rose
Namajunas. Prior to the setback, the Brazilian had won two of
her last three fights, including victories over Luana
Pinheiro and Viviane
Araujo. The 31-year-old officially weighed 116 pounds on the
dot for her second UFC main event.

UFC Vegas 101 will air live on ESPN+ in its entirety. Prelims begin
at 4 p.m. ET/1 p.m. PT, while the main card starts at 7 p.m. ET/4
p.m. PT.
